Frequently Asked Questions
Everything ski resorts and mountain-travel teams ask about AI guest services — chat, voice, text and social, purpose-built for the mountains.
The basics
What is Get Ski Bots?
Get Ski Bots builds AI guest-service agents purpose-built for ski resorts and the mountain-travel industry. One agent answers your guests’ questions instantly, 24/7, across chat, voice, text and social — trained on your specific mountain.
Who is it for?
Ski and snowboard resorts, plus the broader mountain-travel ecosystem: lodging and hotels, tubing hills, transportation and shuttles, tourism boards, passes and multi-resort groups, and attractions like water parks. If guests call, message, or email you with questions, it’s a fit.
Is this just a chatbot?
No. It’s an omni-channel guest-service platform. The chat widget is the most visible piece, but the same trained knowledge also answers your phones (Voice AI), your texts, and your social DMs — so guests get the same accurate answer wherever they reach you.
What kinds of questions can it answer?
Lift tickets and pricing, hours and calendars, lessons, rentals, tubing, lodging, directions and parking, policies, blackout dates, current conditions, events, and more — anything you’d normally field at the desk or call center. Complex, high-touch conversations route to your team.
Do we have to anticipate every question our guests might ask?
No — and that’s the point. Older chatbots made you script every question and answer by hand. Get Ski Bots learns from your existing resort content and reasons over it, so it can answer questions you never explicitly wrote down. You don’t build a giant decision tree; you point it at what’s already true about your mountain, then refine.
Will our guests actually use an AI agent instead of calling or emailing?
They already do — a large share of guest questions are simple, repetitive ones (hours, pricing, “are you open,” directions) that guests would rather resolve in ten seconds than wait on hold for. The agent answers those instantly, and anyone who wants a human still gets one. Resorts consistently see guests engage once the answers are fast and accurate.
Can the agent have its own name, personality and picture?
Yes. Many resorts give the agent a local name, a custom avatar image, and a personality that matches their brand — playful, buttoned-up, or somewhere in between. It’s your mascot on the front line, not a generic gray chat bubble.
Channels
Which channels do you support?
Chat, voice, text and social today, with email AI coming soon. It’s one agent and one knowledge base across every channel, so the answer a guest gets by phone matches the one they get in chat.
Can I put the chat on my website?
Yes — two ways. A pop-up widget that floats in the corner of any page, and an embedded chat you can place inline (great for a Contact or Help page). Both are a lightweight snippet your web team drops in once.
Can it power an “ask us anything” search on our site?
Yes. The same agent can drive a prominent “ask us anything” search bar — often right in your homepage hero — so a guest can type a question the moment they land and get an answer inline, or open it into a full chat. It turns your site search into a real answer engine instead of a list of blue links.
Does the chat work on mobile?
Yes — the widget is fully responsive on phones and tablets. That matters because so many guests are on their phones when they’re checking conditions, hours, or buying tickets on the way up the hill.
Does the AI answer social media messages?
Yes. It can handle inbound messages on your social channels with the same trained knowledge, so after-hours DMs and repeat questions get instant, on-brand answers instead of sitting unread.
Which social platforms does it cover?
It answers inbound messages on your social channels — Facebook Messenger today, with more platforms rolling out. We confirm exactly which of your channels to connect during setup, and every one runs on the same trained knowledge as your chat and voice.
Does it text guests — and can we use text for outbound, not just replies?
Yes to texting. Guests can text your number and the agent answers with the same knowledge, and it can send helpful links and follow-ups — like texting a ticket or directions link after a call. Broader outbound marketing texting is on the roadmap and always runs on compliant, opt-in numbers, so it’s done right rather than risking carrier or regulatory trouble.
How do guests start texting you, and is it opt-in?
Guests text your dedicated number to begin, and every text program runs on verified numbers with clear opt-in and opt-out. That keeps guest texting inside carrier and regulatory rules while still feeling as easy as texting a friend.
When is email AI coming — and will it reply on its own?
Email AI is on the roadmap and coming soon. When it launches you’ll stay in control: it can be set to draft replies for a human to review and send, rather than auto-sending, and it can be pointed at more than one inbox — for example a general-inquiry address and a separate dining or lodging address — so the right knowledge answers the right mailbox.
Can we require a name and email before a guest starts chatting?
That’s your call. Lead capture is optional and configurable — some resorts collect a name and email up front, others let guests chat freely and only ask when it’s useful (like requesting a callback). Whatever a guest shares flows into your analytics and can be handed to your team.
Handoff to your team
Can a conversation be handed off to a real person?
Yes — human handoff is built in on both chat and voice. When a guest asks for a person, or the conversation gets high-touch, the agent can route the guest to your live team. On chat, a conversation can also be emailed straight to guest services so nothing is lost when a guest asks for help.
What happens when nobody on my team is available?
The agent keeps the guest moving instead of dead-ending them. Depending on how you set it up, it can capture the guest’s details and request a callback, point them to the right resource, or take a message — so an after-hours or peak-day question still gets handled rather than lost.
Can it handle guests during the day and cover us after hours?
Yes. You control when calls and chats route to staff versus the AI. A common setup routes to your team during operating hours and lets the AI cover nights, weekends, and overflow — so the phones are never unanswered and your staff aren’t buried in repeat questions.
Voice AI
How does Voice AI work?
You get a dedicated phone line answered by your AI agent 24/7. It understands natural speech, answers the guest’s question, and — for anything high-touch — hands the call to your team. It’s built to resolve the routine, repetitive calls so your reservationists focus on the ones that need a human.
Will it replace my call-center staff?
No — it removes the repetitive calls (hours, directions, “do you have availability,” policy questions) so your team spends its time on the high-value conversations. Think of it as answering the ~75% that are questions, and routing the rest to people.
Do you use a local or toll-free number?
We provision a local number matching your area code so it feels like calling the resort directly. The line is wired to your voice agent and can also text guests helpful links during or after the call.
Can it take bookings or payments over the phone?
We start with the information and support calls that are safe and high-volume, and route booking-and-payment conversations to your team. Where a booking integration is in place, payment is handled through a secure, PCI-compliant flow — the card is never spoken aloud or stored in our systems.
Is this a true voice agent, or just speech turned into chat?
It’s a true voice agent. The guest speaks naturally and the agent listens, understands, and responds in a natural voice — it isn’t a menu tree or a “press 1” system, and it isn’t just transcribing speech into a chat box. It holds a real conversation and can hand off to your team when needed.
Do callers have to be told the call is recorded?
Call-recording notice rules vary by state, and some states require all parties to consent. We help you configure the right disclosure for where you operate so your voice line stays compliant — it’s a standard part of setting up the phone channel.
Do we keep our existing phone number?
Yes. We provision a local number in your area code for the voice agent, and you have two easy paths: publish that number directly, or simply forward your existing published number to it so your printed and web number keeps working with the AI answering behind it. Nothing about your current number has to change.
Can it work with our existing phone system or call center?
Yes. The voice agent sits in front of or alongside your current setup — commonly your main line forwards to it, and it forwards back to your team or call center whenever a call needs a person. We wire the routing to match how your phones already work, so it fits in rather than replacing everything.
Can it route calls to the right department or person?
Yes. Calls can be routed by topic — front desk, tickets, lessons, dining, lodging — to the right extension or team. Anything the agent can’t resolve can fall back to your switchboard, so a caller is never stranded.
What happens with emergencies or ski-patrol calls?
Safety is never left to AI. Emergency, first-aid, and ski-patrol requests are handed straight to your people or the appropriate number, immediately — the agent is built to recognize and escalate those without delay, not to try to handle them itself.
How many calls can it handle at once?
As many as come in. Unlike a front desk with a fixed number of staff, the voice agent answers every call in parallel — so a powder-day rush, a storm closure, or an on-sale spike doesn’t turn into busy signals and hold queues. No caller waits because the line is “full.”
Does it sound robotic, and can it handle interruptions or background noise?
It uses a natural-sounding voice and holds a real back-and-forth — a caller can interrupt and it adjusts instead of talking over them. Real resort calls come from parking lots, base lodges, and speakerphones, so its sensitivity to background noise and interruptions is tunable, and we dial it in with you during setup.
Can it take a message or offer a callback?
Yes. When a guest wants a person who isn’t available, the agent can capture their details and request a callback or take a message — so after-hours and overflow calls still get followed up instead of going to a dead voicemail.
Training & accuracy
How is the AI trained on my resort?
It learns from your real resort information — tickets, passes, policies, hours, lessons, lodging and conditions — sourced from your website and the materials you provide. You get a working agent that’s roughly 80% trained out of the gate, then we refine the answers with your team so it speaks exactly how you want.
How do you keep it from making things up?
Answers are grounded in your verified resort content, not open-ended guessing. Our analytics layer, ShredIntel, shows exactly where an answer had no source behind it, so you can add the missing content and close the gap — the agent gets measurably sharper over time.
How do I update answers after launch?
Easily. You can add or edit content — a quick text edit, a page, or a file — and the agent picks it up. Most tuning is a few minutes, not a support ticket, and ShredIntel points you to the topics worth updating first.
Does it pull live conditions and pricing?
Where a resort publishes a live feed, the agent can reference current information like conditions and weather so answers stay current. Live data availability varies by resort and source; we wire up what your systems expose.
How often does it update when we change our website?
The agent re-reads your website on a regular sync, so published changes flow into its answers without a rebuild. For things that change within a day — a wind hold, a lift on hold, an alert banner — that’s where a live feed or a quick manual edit comes in, and both update the agent fast.
What if we don’t have live-data feeds for lifts, snow or weather?
You’re still in great shape. Most of what guests ask — pricing, hours, policies, lessons, directions, events — doesn’t need a live feed. For real-time lift and snow status, the agent uses a feed if you have one; if you don’t, it answers from your latest published report and points guests to your conditions page. If an API becomes available later, we wire it in.
Should the welcome message tell guests they’re talking to AI?
Most resorts choose to, and we recommend it — a short, friendly line that the assistant is an AI here to help sets the right expectation and actually increases trust. It’s fully your choice, and the greeting is written in your voice.
How many websites or sources can it learn from?
There’s no hard cap — the agent can be trained on your main site plus additional pages, documents, and files you provide. What matters is quality and accuracy, not volume; we help you prioritize the content that answers the most guest questions first.
Can guests chat in other languages?
Yes. The agent understands and responds in many languages, so an international guest can ask in their own language and get a helpful answer — useful for destination resorts and cross-border travelers.
Integrations
Does it integrate with our booking system?
Yes — we integrate with mountain-travel commerce and reservation platforms (for example, Inntopia) to check availability, quote options and support the booking journey. The depth depends on what your platform exposes; we scope it with you during setup.
Will it conflict with a chat widget we already have?
No. The embed is designed to coexist cleanly with your existing site and tools, and we handle the setup so there’s no conflict with other floating widgets.
Can the agent live inside our e-commerce or booking flow?
Yes. The widget can be placed on your e-commerce and booking pages — for example an Aspenware or Inntopia store — so guests get help right where they buy. Because it’s one snippet, a guest can start a conversation on your main site and carry it into checkout without starting over.
Data, privacy & security
How do you handle guest data and privacy?
We collect only what’s needed to help the guest and follow standard privacy practices. Sensitive actions like payment are handled through secure, compliant flows — card details are never spoken into or stored by the AI. Full details live in our privacy policy.
Is texting guests compliant?
Yes. SMS runs on verified, compliant numbers with clear opt-in and opt-out, so guest texting meets carrier and regulatory requirements.
Results & analytics
What is ShredIntel?
ShredIntel is your analytics layer. It shows exactly what guests are asking, where answers come from, which topics need more content, and where guests get stuck — turning every conversation into intelligence you can act on. The agent gets smarter with every conversation.
Can we use it to drive revenue?
Yes. Beyond deflecting routine questions, the agent surfaces the right next step — passes, lessons, lodging, add-ons — and ShredIntel reveals demand patterns you can turn into upsell and marketing.
What kind of coverage do we get?
24/7, on every channel — after hours, weekends and peak-day overflow included. Guests get instant answers when your desk is closed, which is exactly when a lot of booking questions come in.
Onboarding & pricing
How long does it take to go live?
Most resorts get a working demo in a few days and go live in about a week. You test it, we refine it with your team, and it launches for your guests.
What does onboarding involve, and how much of our time does it take?
Onboarding is guided and light on your side. We build the agent from your website first — so it starts roughly 80% ready — then run short working sessions with your team to sharpen answers, set the voice, and connect any feeds. Most of the lift is on us; your team’s job is to review answers and flag anything that should sound different. Expect a handful of short sessions, not weeks of homework.
What does our web team need to do to install it?
Very little — it’s a single lightweight snippet dropped into your site once, the same way you’d add an analytics tag. No rebuild, no plugin sprawl. If you’d like, we’ll work directly with your web developer to place it, and it’s live in minutes.
Can our team have separate logins and permission levels?
Yes. Team members get their own logins, and access can be scoped by role — so guest-services staff, marketing, and admins see what’s relevant to them in the dashboard.
How much does it cost?
Pricing is tailored to your resort — the channels you want (chat, voice, text, social) and your scale. The best starting point is a quick demo: we’ll build a working agent trained on your mountain so you can see the value first.
Can we try it before committing?
Absolutely. We build you a live demo agent trained on your resort so you can put it in your team’s hands, poke at it, and see exactly how it answers your guests — before any commitment.
Still have a question?
The fastest way to get answers is to see it trained on your mountain.
